The Cologne-based artist Odo Rumpf creates sculptures from steel and finds from industrial scrap and waste. He studied mechanical engineering and worked as an engineer before turning to sculpture. The interview outlines his personal development and the creative processes during the creation of his works. The artist describes how knowledge from his engineering studies is incorporated in his work as an artist. Odo Rumpf works at the interface between science and art and collaborates with scientists and technicians on specific projects.
