Location

The 10th International Workshop on Automated Verification of Critical Systems, AVOCS'10, will be hosted by the University of Düsseldorf (which also organised iFM 2009) and will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, alongside the river Rhine.

The event will be co-located with the Rodin User and Developer Workshop and take place
September 20-23, 2010 at the University of Düsseldorf at Building 22.01, Lecture hall 2B and 2C. See the description and map below for detailed travel information.

A week before our department also hosts COMSOC 2010, a COST action on Algorithmic Decision Theory, and a LogICC Tutorial Day.

How to get to Düsseldorf

To Düsseldorf by Air

Düsseldorf is quite convenient to reach as it has an international airport with direct connections to numerous cities.

Düsseldorf International Airport is 6 km north east of Düsseldorf`s city center and about 13 km from the conference venue. From there we recommend you take S-Bahn No 11 to D�sseldorf Central Station, available at the Terminal Rail Station which is located below the terminals.
Travel time: approx. 11 min. to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). Cost: 2,30 € one way.
From Düsseldorf Central Station, you can get to the conference venue by tram or subway train. See Local Transport and the map below for more information.

Alternatively the Köln-Bonn Airport provides more destinations and many with budget airlines. The Köln Bonn Airport is located about 60 km south of Düsseldorf. By train you will need one hour to Düsseldorf Central Station. Available connections and timetables you can find here (Enter Köln Bonn Airport as start and Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof as destination). From Düsseldorf Central Station, tram or subway train will get you to the conference venue. See Local Transport for more information

International Airport Weeze is 80 km north of Düsseldorf and provides a wide range of low-cost flights. Weeze train station is only 5 minutes, Kevelaer train station 10 minutes away by bus. The local train RE10 to Düsseldorf runs Mondays to Fridays half hourly, on weekends hourly. To Düsseldorf by Rail

Düsseldorf Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) is frequented by a regular train service throughout Germany since it is situated on the main north/south route between Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dortmund, Hamburg. High speed trains (ICE, EC and IC) as well as regional trains will stop here. For rail travel information please visit the following website: www.bahn.de and enter as your destination Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof.

Paris can also be reached using the Thalys train service from Köln (Cologne).

To Düsseldorf by Car

The University is located 6 km south to the city centre, close to the river Rhine. The conference venue is directly accessible via the motorway A46. Free parking is available at the University.

Arriving from east, leave A46 (direction Düsseldorf) in the tunnel via exit 24 (Zentrum/Universität) and turn left at the first possibility into the Universitätsstrasse. Follow the street and park lefthand on parking area P25. When coming from west, take A46 via motorway interchange Neuss Süd (A57/A46). Leave via exit Bilk/Zentrum/Hafen/Benrath behind Rheinbridge (Fleher Bridge). Then leave via exit Benrath/Universität, follow the street and right into the Universitätsstrasse. Following the street you can find parking area P25 on the left side. Arriving from the city, follow the Corneliusstrasse to Witzelstrasse and turn right into Universitätsstrasse. Just follow the Universitätsstrasse and park lefthand on parking area P25.

Local Transport

The city centre and the University can be easily and quickly reached from the airport or the central station by S-Bahn and subway train or tram.

When coming from the airport you can take S-Bahn Line S11 at Terminal A/B/C, below the arrival hall, heading to Bergisch Gladbach/Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and get off at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (Central Station, approx. 11 minutes).

From the Düsseldorf Central Station subway train (U-Bahn) U79 (direction: Universität) will get you to the University. You will have to leave the tram at Universität Ost/Botanischer Garten. You can also take the tramway line 707 (direction: Universität), leave at the same tramstop Universität Ost/Botanischer Garten.

To get to University by bus, take line 836 (direction Universität Süd) or line 835 (direction Düsseldorf - In der Steele) from station Düsseldorf Bilk in the city. Leave at the busstop Universität Mitte

From tramstop Universität Ost/Botanischer Garten or busstop Universität Mitte to the conference venue follow the way described in the map below.

For travel in Düsseldorf with bus, tram, subway train and S-Bahn you will need a ticket with price level A:

  • Single Ticket: 2,30 €
  • 4-Trip Ticket: 8,00 €
  • Day Ticket, 1 Person: 5,30 €
  • Group Ticket, up to 5 Persons, for 1 day: 11,70 €

Tickts are available from the ticket machines, from Rheinbahn's customer centres and from many sales partners. Single Tickets or 4-Trip Tickets can also be bought from the bus driver; in trams you will find ticket machines. It is not possible to buy a ticket in the S-Bahn, so be sure you have one before entering an S-Bahn. Most tickets have to be stamped before you commence your journey (the single tickets are usually already stamped).
